We spoke with other builders in the same community and they were shocked to hear the situation we were in and all said they would have gladly adjusted the price. They know their house under appraised and refused to sign off on a price adjustment for us. Of course our earnest deposit is being mailed, so our money is tied up which is also hindering us from making offers on other homes. Great way to treat military, I find these people greedy and desperate over 7000 which to them should be nothing, but apparently they’re hurting for it.
I’m very dissatisfied with my experience with Homes By Towne. We tried to purchase a quick move in spec home, and about 3 days before our closing date the appraisal came in $7000 below list price. We used Homes by Townes preferred lender of choice, and were being pressured and coerced to take out a second mortgage to cover the appraisal difference. Completely unethical and unprofessional.
Were they trying to take advantage of our lack of knowledge & prey on our emotions? So are they just going to deny everyone with a VA loan or FHA because they’re trying to get someone into a home that is already “under water” and under appraising by getting a separate appraisal for conventional? Now we have less than a month to find another place to live. We are a young active duty military family & the fact that we are left high and dry trying to scramble & find another place to live in less than a month is unacceptable treatment.
